Sommerferie, sommarlov, kesäloma.
Summer is over us, and for many the month of July equals going away for summer holiday. But for those who will spend their summer in sunny Singapore, don’t worry about holiday closure at the different Scandinavian Seamens’ churches. Norwegian/Swedish Sjømannskirken and Danish Sømandskirken have prepared for summer, and you have the chance to meet a lot of new faces and joining a lot of exciting events all summer.
What’s not changed?
Danish Sømandskirken: As usual, Danish Sømandskirken offers Danish brunch table and coffee mornings on Tuesdays and services every Sunday.
Norwegian/Swedish Sjømannskirken: Sjømannskirken invites for porridge every Saturday, services every Sunday at 5pm followed by BBQ, and Thursday-lunches from 12pm.
What’s new?
Danish Sømandskirken:
- Wednesday-lunches are on holiday break.
- New concept: walk’n’talk with Sømandskirken. A new and fresh way to start the day, the walk’n’talk initiative from the church invites you for a great 10K walk in the morning, beginning from Mount Faber to the Southern Ridges and ending in Kent Ridge Park. No need for signing up, just join on Monday 11 July from 8.30 at Sømandskirken.
- Minister visit: In connection with Singapore International Water Week, the Danish Minister of Food and Environment, Esben Lunde Larsen, is visiting Singapore, and will join service at Sømandskirken on 10 July from 11am. There will be followed with lunch after the service.
Norwegian/Swedish Sjømannskirken:
- Three summer workers will manage the church during summer, and Terje Vigsnes, Siri Braut Vigsnes, and Britt Hagen are warmly welcomed by the church and community.
