The benefit of living in a melting pot is the celebration of all cultural and religious holidays. The Scandinavian Easter is no excuse!
The Danish Sømandskirken and the Norwegian and Swedish Seamen’s Churches have organized a lovely Easter holiday filled with exciting and traditional activities at respectively Pender Road and Pasir Panjang Road.
Easter already begun on Sunday 20 March, where both churches had their Palm Sunday services, and young people were confirmed in the Danish church.
Thursday: On 24 March 2016 it is Skærtorsdag (the Maundy Thursday), and there will be held a traditional service, and in addition the Swedish/Norwegian church will have a church organ meditation and a serving of soup and bread as a part of the service.
Friday: On Good Friday 25 March 2016 the Norwegian/Swedish church will be closed, but there will be a theme service at the Danish church, where the subject line “When the darkness descends…”, where the story of passion will be told in words and notes.
Saturday: Easter is here! Children can look forward to 26 March 2016 when the Norwegian/Swedish church invites for a Eastern hike with hidden Easter eggs! It begins 12pm at the church, and throughout the whole day there will be Easter workshops where children and creative souls can decorate Easter eggs. Ricepudding will be served.
Sunday: The 27 March 2016 is Easter day. The Norwegian/Swedish church will celebrate it with a service where Hanna Sofi Lund will perform beautiful songs accompanied with Helene Hostad Tønnessen, who will play the saxophone. On the evening there will be held a Easter BBQ where lamb is on the menu. The Danish church will have a themed service, where the subject “When life and light breaks free”.
