The Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas may be heading for a huge order in Laos. The company has been appointed as preferred supplier for a wind park in the country.
The developer of the project is the Thai company Impact Electrons Siam (IES), and they hope to have the project – called Monsoon Wind Power Project – completed in 2020.
As of now, it is not sure whether or not the project will become a reality, but being selected as a preferred supplier can often result in a real order.
“We have signed a cooperation agreement that could lead to a wind park project being installed in Laos. We continue working on that but I don’t have any estimate on timing,” says head of external communications and media relations, Michael Zarin, and explains that these things usually take some time.
If the project is to be done, it will be the first wind turbine project to ever take place in Laos.
