SIMP Asia: call for 2017 applications, sustainability seminar

As the Swedish Institute is running the on-going Swedish Institute Management Programme (SIMP) 2016 in Asia (supported by Enact, a sustainability consultancy firm in Stockholm), a business seminar on the role of business in sustainable development takes place in Bangkok on 12 October.

Meanwhile the 2017 SIMP is now open for applications, where the Swedish Institute Management Programme aims to establish a strong global network of leaders from Asia, Northern Europe and Africa. The programme targets managers in senior positions and focuses on responsible leadership and sustainable business.

The management programme is designed to uncover the advanced concepts, practical tools and primary skills required from a leader in today’s political and global business arena. The wider goal of the programme is to build an active network of people interested in promoting improved relations and business cooperation between the participating countries and Sweden.

Sweden is considered one of the leading countries in sustainable business practice. Swedish companies take a prominent role in finding new innovative ways to integrate social, environmental and ethical concerns into their core business models. However, the programme is a reciprocal effort. Sweden seeks to learn from the countries involved, gain new and lasting networks, and strengthen the concept of corporate responsibility.

Within SIMP 2016, as part of the second module in Bangkok, the Swedish Institute and the Swedish Embassy in Thailand are organising a business seminar on the role of business in sustainable development on 12 October. During this event the participants of the programme, thirty executive leaders from six Asian countries, will share their insights into the different approaches, priorities and points of view in Asia and Europe. There will also be external speakers and interactive audience sessions at this seminar.

The consultancy firm Enact supports the Swedish Institute as content partner for the Swedish Institute Management Programme Asia. After finishing the first part of the programme in Stockholm in May, the second module takes place in Bangkok.

SIMP Asia is partly funded by the Swedish Government and will be open to applicants from China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The programme curriculum revolves around advanced business-related problem solving, seminars and meetings with front figures in the commercial, political and cultural fields, as well as on-site company visits. By providing the platform for knowledge sharing, experience exchange and quality networking, the programme aims to challenge traditional approaches, reinforce professional skills, deepen cross-cultural perspectives and unite the participants in a long-lasting and active global network.

The programme targets progressive and open-minded leaders in their mid-career, between the age of 25 and 45, looking to broaden their management skills and holistic approach to business.

The call for applications to SIMP Asia 2017 is now open and will close 24 October, 2016.
